Celebrating Our 10th Anniversary: Rogue Winterfest 2012!

Dear Friends, Family, and Colleagues,

I have the great privilege of serving as the event planner for the 2012 Rogue Winterfest. This year is the Festival’s 10th anniversary, and it just keeps getting better. Held at Evergreen Federal Bank’s Bear Hotel, Rogue Winterfest is the largest winter Festival in Josephine County. The Festival showcases beautifully decorated holiday trees, one-of-a-kind art, live entertainment, exquisite culinary offerings, award-winning wines and brews, and Evergreen Federal Bank’s beloved Christmas on Mars display. Each year this venue undergoes a spectacular transformation into a winter wonderland to bring the community together to help support Josephine County’s nonprofit mental health organizations: Family Solutions, Kairos (formerly SOASTC), and Options for Southern Oregon.

Rogue Winterfest will feature four spectacular events December 6 through December 10, 2012: Gala Event and Auction, Golden Social, Weekend Festivities, and Culinary Christmas Classic with a Silent Auction (please visit www.roguewinterfest.org to see a full list of activities). Proceeds from the Festival will provide vital funding to our County’s mental health organizations.

Would you consider donating a Silent Auction item or service to the Culinary Christmas Classic on Monday, December 10, 2012? During this spectacular event, participants enjoy culinary tastings from Southern Oregon’s finest restaurants, caterers, wineries, and breweries. This year’s guests will enjoy the dance jazz band combo Living on Dreams as they bid on tempting Silent Auction items and mingle among the decorated trees and magical artworks. This evening has been named one of Josephine County’s top winter events.

Silent Auction items typically include vacation packages, household items, art, photography, cooking classes, electronics, wellness and spa packages, landscaping and decorating services, wine, golf, beauty and cosmetic supplies, culinary, and furniture. This year, we are designing themed baskets like the following for the auction: Start Your Oregon Wine Cellar, Golf ‘Til You Drop, Girls’ Getaway, It’s a Guy Thing, Dream Vacations, Spa, Massage, and more!

Your contributions and participation in this festive fundraiser will help thousands of people get the care they need to improve the health of our community. Rogue Winterfest sponsorships, donations, admissions, and auction sales help fund our community’s children’s mental health programs, school-based counseling and supports, therapeutic foster care, crisis services, life-skills development, housing, and in-home services.

Please visit our Donate an Item page and simply fill out the form. Remember to see the list of benefits for donating an item. Jane Whaley, our Silent Auction team captain, will contact you to verify your donation. You will receive a tax donation letter. If you would prefer to have a Silent Auction form mailed to you, please contact Jane at jwhaley01@gmail.com. Once we receive your item or gift certificate, a Tax ID receipt or letter will be provided.

On behalf of Family Solutions, Kairos, and Options for Southern Oregon, I thank you for your support. I hope you will be part of Rogue Winterfest’s 10th-anniversary. I would like to thank Evergreen Federal Bank for graciously donating the use of The Bear Hotel for all Festival events; Cauble and Cauble Attorneys at Law for their Diamond Sponsorship; Taprock Northwest Grill for sponsoring the Southern Oregon Bounty Gala Event and Auction; and Highland House and Royale Gardens for sponsoring the Golden Social.

Feature Story

This month’s feature sponsor is Taprock Northwest Grill. Thank you, Taprock, for all you do to help create a healthier community for us all. Your sponsorship of the Gala Event and Culinary Christmas Classic is unparalleled and deeply appreciated.

Taprock Northwest Grill is more than a restaurant—it’s a scenic adventure right on the bank of the Rogue River. The Pacific Northwest lodge is adorned with art and craftsman-inspired furniture, massive timber beams, sculptures, and paintings. The aroma of delicious food surrounds you as the river beckons from beyond.

The Taprock menu shares the Northwest influence, featuring dozens of regional farms and producers. Comforting entrees will fill you up. Envision macaroni and cheese made with Beecher’s artisan cheese and honey-cured ham or homemade skillet meatloaf. Favorite dishes like Brady’s Lumberjack Steak, Dungeness Crab BLT Salad, and the Hellgate Fire Burger, are down-home local.

Taprock’s menu extends to breakfast, where classic French toast gets fancied up with maple-caramel-apple or triple-berry sauce. Perhaps you’d prefer to drool over buttermilk pancakes, a crab and shrimp omelet, or Taprock’s famous Eggs Benedict.
Taprock embraces the local community and considers their guests to be  family. Good food, beautiful surroundings, and excellent service help Taprock achieve their goal of becoming the locals’ pride and joy in this River City.

Hats off to you, Taprock! This year the dinner at Rogue Winterfest’s Gala Event will focus on Southern Oregon Bounty as we feature an abundance of local produce and ingredients.

Again, we THANK YOU!
